Description
The Sleep of a King is the first album Richard has made which consists entirely of his own guitar music. It was recorded over two evenings in April 2022 in the secluded Saxon church of St Botolph’s, which stands under the Sussex Downs on the banks of the River Adur, a few miles upstream from Richard’s house.
The artwork for The Sleep of a King is by painter Jonathan Everitt, whose acrylic canvasses have a quality and depth of colour which gives them drama and intensity. Jon also painted the cover art for Richard’s 2020 album Rewilding.
“I make images that encourage the viewer to think further and to see the possibilities and impossibilities of the world around them. I think Richard and I have this in common,” said Jonathan.
